Mini hits the shows

It's that time of year when I get to go to London fashion week and check out all the new Spring Summer offerings. Well this time Mini and Ottilie got to come too.
First up was choosing their outfits from Alex and Alexa. Talk about choice. They have just about every hot kids designer, shoes and accessories on their site. But mini persevered and chose her and Ottilie matching outfits.

Wearing her new Stella Kids printed dress and star print tights. Mini chose a pair of paint splatter converse trainers and added a cool turquoise metallic pair of shwings
You can customise your laces with these fabric wings and Ottilie got these super cool lightening Nikes. She topped it all off with her customised monogrammed basket from Raefeather and a pop cutie necklace.
It was then on to the shows to review them for her guest blog on Alex and Alexa.

Remember remember the 5th of November

5th of November is one of our favourite nights of the year. We are always spoilt with the most phenomenal display and party from my cousins Sara and Edward. This year was no exception in fact I think they managed to surpass themselves yet again with hot dogs and mulled wine, toasting marshmallows on an open fire, Chinese lanterns and one of the best firework displays in town. It was minis first and although her big bro hid in the toilet with a cup of sweets for most of it, mini watched in awe throughout every bang and explosion. To keep chic and snug the terrible two were decked out in their matching green striped Bonton knitwear and converse trainers. What a great night.

A little extra

For those of you who were requesting to see how my costume looked I've added a few extra pix.
I'm afraid I couldn't help but pull out the fashion stops. A black lace top shop dress worn under my Joseph fur coat topped off with my spider headpiece from john Lewis and copious amounts of Mac black eyeliner.
Today mini wore her Gap dungaree shorts, H&M purple body and Bonpoint floral neckerchief courtesy of cousins Gige and Josie. I'm afraid it's another short break for minis fashion file while I head to Lisbon for a Red beauty shoot.

Kermit Rules

Today was Phins last day at kindergarten before half term, so he decided to come in disguise as Kermit the frog. Some of you may recognise part of his outfit from last years colour day where he came as a runner bean/sugar snap/courgette... Anyway spruced up with his new frog hat from Portabello market we transformed him into the worlds favourite frog.

Primary Colour

Mini is celebrating the gorgeous sunshine by combining every primary colour possible. She's sporting her floral Stella dress, picking up the forest green, tomato red, cobalt blue and sunflower yellow with her Bonton poloneck, tights and trainers. You won't miss her coming.

Liberty London Girl

I can't seem to keep myself away from
liberty prints and it seems neither can all these children's wear labels. Maybe because nothing says innocent childhood like a floral sprig or a swirling Paisley that Liberty has done so well over the past hundred years. This aqua, lilac and sea green Paisley shirt comes from Bonton and has a pretty frilled Peter pan collar and elasticated cuffs. Minis wearing it with her brothers old Diesel skinnies and a very small glitter bolero. We have the bigger size too but I quite like the shrunken fit on her, plus I'm always so sad to put something so gorgeous away. It means acknowledging her getting bigger and growing up which she's doing at such a speedy pace I want to grab onto her shoulders and slow her down. But nothing can keep mini from raring into the future. She's one determined young girl.

Green Striped Brigade

Phin and Mini were the perfect double act in their matching green and cream striped Bonton sweater sets.
They were originally meant for celebrating the new year but when temperatures hit 28 degrees last week I couldn't make my two sweat it out just for fashion's sake. Instead they wore them to break the Yom Kippur fast at cousins Gigi and Josie's house. Phin wore his with a grey pair of flannels from Marc Jacobs and both wore their coordinating green Converse trainers from Cherry and Miri. Expect to see these outfits again and again. There's nothing a Red Magazine woman loves more than a stripe and green's my favourite colour. Heaven if I could only get one in my size...

When mini met kitty

Phin and mini met an idol of theirs today, Hello Kitty. A heroine of mine too from a young age. But then those were the days when kitty merchandise was a rarity. Secured through great friendships with girls whose dads did business in Japan or who knew the hot dealer in st johns wood. Today, well Kitty is everywhere. On birthday plates and banners, on hairclips and ski mittens at H&M and now she's fashioned up and decked out in Liberty print. And she looks rather gorgeous in it too I might add.
There's nothing better than a giant sized real life kitty to freak your child out on a Sunday morning brunch at Liberty's. Phin was not fazed and gave her a secure hug but mini was a little perplexed. She faired better with the giant stuffed version pictured, where she could comfortably perch her bottom and sit for a while pondering the frenetic activity of the grown women surrounding her, clambering for kitty washbags and notepaper.
I myself was tempted but feigned indifference and was rewarded when Mini came clutching her very own Hello Kitty in smart Liberty print frock and Phin begging for a hot pink kitty alarm clock.
Mini looked ever so chic in her Maan woodland print dress for the occasion A gift from Elaine it really is a fairytale outfit fit for a Grimm fairytale heroine, all quirky colours and illustrations of deer and owls. Minis wearing her new Zara antique rose leather shoes, another steal for those searching for well priced kids footwear at £17. Phin was mirroring mini's colour palette in his tangerine skinnies from Gap, star print shirt from Bonpoint and new converse trainers from cousin Cherry and Miri. Double trouble indeed. Papa can vouch for that.

Coffee morning

With mama on her last fashion feet we decided to take a little coffee break at the electric house. Mini was obviously in her element, greeting everyone as they entered and lounging on the new sofas. For the occasion mini went high fashion with her Stella floral dress and Bonpoint brick red cardi and converse trainers.

The next day was chilled out for everyone. Mini took to her little gym class, practicing her forward rolls and balance beam in her new H&M stripy leggings and matching purple body. I love the off beat mix of mustard, purple, cobalt, grey and hot pink without them ever getting too garish and they mirror this season's hot colours perfectly.
