Rain rain go away!

What a day to choose to go to Legoland. Half term and you expect crowds, but add torrential downpours into the mix and maybe you'd expect the place to be empty. But no not us Brits. The place was heaving with PAC a macs and although Phin was decked out in his Kway green hoodie from JCrew and Mini all tonal in her Makie mushroom rain jacket and Stella for Gap tutu plus a whole bunch of umbrellas we still got soaked down to our undies.
But we did have fun!

Street Party

Day 3 of the Jubilee weekend and what a treat was in store for us with our very own street party at Clarendon Cross. Led of course by the formidable fashionista Virginia Bates. She went to town with the decorations, adorning herself and her eponymous store with union jacks draped every which way.
Mini was in a party spirit with her gold puff ball dress by The Gap topped off with Phins old Stella for Gap little drummer boy jacket giving her plenty of warmth as well a dose of regal attire.
We scooted, cakes in hand up the road to join in the greatest street party of the neighbourhood. Cheese on sticks, quiches, sausage rolls and plenty of cakes. And only a dash of rain. Phew!

Street party 2

Phin & Mini had a blast with all the street games. There was mini golf, fire eating and our favourite Splat The Rat. A game we'd not heard of but Papa was an old hand having played it himself at the Bethersden Village Fete.
There was a puppet show and an amazing band complete with double base, cello, violin and even a melodica.
But nothing could compete with a final salute with Clarendon Cross' very own Beefeater.

Street Party 3

Flotilla Fun

Jubilee day 2 and we celebrated the Queen's River Pageant with possibly the best seats in town. Thanks to grandma and Papow's apartment on the bank of the River Thames we got front row viewing as all the boats including the Queen's barge floated by. With Shakespeare's Globe theatre and the Tate Modern as the backdrop, our view was picture perfect. Plus we got to celebrate in the warmth and comfort of home, with a cup of tea and tante Poppy's union jack pavlova and our home baked sugar biscuits.
Phin & Mini wore their coordinating Bonton stone and neon yellow stripe sweater sets, maybe not so patriotic but they added a heady dose of sunshine to an otherwise wet and dismal day. But of course despite the weather we had the best time enjoying a real day to remember.

Flotilla fun part 2

Princess Mini was in her element. But then, when is she not queen of her own realm? We cheered and clapped as the Queen's barge went past and celebrated with more scones and lashings of whipped cream.

Scootastic

We started our jubilee weekend at a slow languid pace. A long leisurely lunch and for afternoon tea a little scoot up the road to our local Italian gelateria. Phin has become surprisingly good at scooting. His skinny bean frame pushing furiously, balancing on one leg with such style and confidence. Mini of course is trying to keep up. She's determined in her gap skinnies and new C de C floral blouse but she keeps steering into trees and walls, it's frustrating, but she'll get there. The ice cream was a well deserved reward.
