Phin is starting school in September and I'm having a crisis over his
school shoes. There's nothing to be done about regulation viscose
sweaters but how to make the right style choice when choosing shoes?
Unfortunately Phin's school recently switched from brown to black and
this has added a whole other layer of problems. Somehow brown leather
has the ability to look chic. It wears well, often looking better the
more aged and scuffed it gets. Black however just looks heavy and cheap.
So here are the best of the bunch! Please do let me know if you find any other sources of great footwear. | |
The best school shoes are camper shoes. These would be good for your son, chic but practical aswell.

They also last and wear really well.
Thanks for the tips! We are off to buy them this week. Any faves with school trainers and plimsoles? We need those too. So far puma and john Lewis have been recommended.
DeleteI would get Supergas for school trainers:

But it depends whether the school requires proper running shoes or not. Mine just need plimpsolls in the infants and trainers once in the junior school.
I would get plimpsolls from John Lewis (the velcro ones are much better):

This trainers are not the best in the looks department but are simple and not flashy and the velcro with be easy to do up:

Also if you want to do see a big selection of trainers go to sports direct they have a lot of choice (all the big brands) and at very reasonable prices. I don't know where you live but in NW london theres one at brent cross where there is also a john lewis etc.
i love supergas, they are my fave. i used to wear them as a teenager and think they are the best. prob with my son is he has very slim feet and they come up quite big. went for just some plain white velcro trainers from Trotters. The plimsoles i tried john lewis and everywhere but they have all sold out! ordered on line but yes you are right the velcro ones i think are easier to get on by themselves. Great tips!
