I was in the highly privileged position yesterday to get a sneak peek at the V&A's collection of vintage shoes. It was the small beginnings of an exhibition of a show they are hoping to bring to the public in March 2015! So this was a real pre preview!
Check out the bath shoes from the Ottoman Empire. They are inlaid with mother of pearl and are so high do that the feet were away from the heated floor.
There were Chinese slippers from the Manchu dynasty with a linen platform or the Ferragamo rainbow wedges made for Judy Garland in 1938.
What a treat!
